Each cut of meat varies in weight. This is why we charge for meat by the exact weight. We weigh your meat when packing your order. Then, we charge your card after it's packed and before it's delivered.
We are a small family farm that harvests seasonally. We do our best to manage our inventory, but some things may run out of stock from time to time. If this happens on your order, your final total will be adjusted.
Fresh Meat: Your meat order is NOT guaranteed to arrive frozen. Your meat was frozen when shipped from our farm but will begin to thaw during the transit time. However it will still be cold/refrigerated upon arrival which is considered "fresh" like you would purchase from the meat case at the butcher or grocery store. This is perfectly normal and safe to either refrigerate and eat within 5-7 days or refreeze for later consumption. Thawed meat is not spoiled meat, it's just in its "fresh" state.
If your meat arrives warm to the touch you should not eat it and please contact us immediately after opening your package to assess the situation.
Delivery expectations: We will ship your order out via UPS. All of our meat will be in an insulated box with ice packs. We have tested these boxes to keep the product at cold temps for 3-6 days depending on the current weather and amount of product in your box. Your transit days are only estimates and not guaranteed. However UPS usually meets the estimated transit days 99% of the time.
In the rare case that your shipment is significantly delayed due to UPS, please contact us immediately upon arrival so we can assess the situation.
If you are in our local region (McHenry and Lake county, IL and southern Walworth county, WI), we will deliver your order ourselves in a refrigerated truck. Please expect it to arrive in a paper bag or box. We require a cooler outside your door in a visible location for the delivery driver to guarantee it stays cold.
Package Integrity: We continue to invest into our butchers/processors to have the state of the art equipment for packaging our meat products to maintain freshness and the highest quality. We train all staff to not pack meat packages with broken seals, puncture, or product quality concerns. However, it’s not uncommon for package seals to occasionally break during the transit time due to being jostled around in the box at the shipping hubs. If you have a broken seal, your product is not bad. Simply, consume within a reasonable amount of time (2-3 months if frozen). Over time these packages are at risk of freezer burn, so we always recommend consuming those packages 1st.
In the rare case that a package has a small puncture, has thawed, and is also leaking, pat dry before refreezing or simply refrigerate and enjoy within 7 days. This package is not necessarily at risk of bacterial contamination or quality if properly stored and consumed in a reasonable time.
We recommend all of our meat products are cooked according to the USDA cooking guidelines. We are not responsible for negligence in not following proper cooking guidelines.
Since food is perishable, we do not accept returns.
