We currently manage just over 150 acres that’s all pasture and hay land. No row crops.
+
No, we don't use any chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers on our pastures.
+
Regenerative farming is a holistic approach to agriculture that benefits the environment, animals, and the health of the meat. Watch the video above for more!
+
Short answer: No.
Long answer: We believe our farm is beyond organic. The truth is that today a lot of organic has just become another sector of industrial agriculture, raising animals in conventional settings and labeling their product organic through all the loopholes. We use a lot of organic principles, however our certification is built upon a relationship built with you. This is why we seek to be completely transparent.

We raise a mixed herd of primarily Red Devon, Angus, Murray gray, and occasionally other breeds. We aren’t partial to any breeds, but focus on heritage, smaller frame cattle that fatten well on grass. We also really spend a lot of time on just quality feed management practices that ensure high beef quality.
+
Yes, our beef is 100% grass-fed and finished, no grains in their life ever.
+
In the winter, we practice stockpiling pasture - where we save pasture during the summer for winter grazing. We also make hay from our pastures during the summer to supplement during the winter to make sure our cattle get the necessary nutrients to maintain good health during the cold midwest winters.
+
Our cattle are rotated to new fresh pastures daily during the midwest grazing seasons. We use a regenerative practice called rotational grazing that allows the land to rest and revitalize to ensure the grasses are vibrant, healthy, and full of nutrients for our cattle to graze when they return to that pasture again in season.
+
Most commercial processors age their beef for maybe a few days before cutting the carcass for efficiency. One great benefit of our beef is that we age it for 12-14 days. The extra time helps to tenderize the beef and makes it taste better!
+
No, as the mRNA vaccine technology hits the animal production industry we are standing our ground against using it. We assure our animals will never be vaccinated with mRNA technology. You can read all about our stance and research here!

We raise a speciality heritage breed called the Idaho Pasture Pig. It’s a mix of primarily Berkshire and some KuneKune and Duroc.
+
Pasture raised - getting a diverse diet of acorns, grubs, forages, and whatever else they find on pastures. Rotated 1-2x per week to new pasture. Supplemented with Non-GMO grains.
+
Our animals are never fed or injected with steroids or hormones. We take the slow, natural, growth with all our livestock. Unfortunately, the industrial agriculture model has adopted growth promotants like "Paylean" in the pork industry or "Implants" in the beef industry that all help push fast growth in the livestock to improve profits. We take a firm stance against such products and never administer or feed any sort of steroids or hormones to increase growth rates. You can read all about our protocols here!
+
Our animals are never fed antibiotics or like kind products that are routinely fed in livestock operations today on a daily basis. Unlike industrial agriculture that liberally administers antibiotics to the animals at 1st sign of a cough or illness. We always look to homeopathic organic treatments as our first option. We will only resort to a therapeutic antibiotic for treatment if the animal is in a life threatening situation and our veterinarian recommends doing so. Thankfully our animals live in such a healthy, natural environment on pasture they rarely get sick. Therefore they are almost never used on our farm. You can read all about our protocols here!

Some processors preserve meats using nitrate/nitrite to extend shelf life. We choose to keep it all natural and not to use nitrate/nitrites.

Our hens are primary Rhode Island Red at the moment, but subject to change. Fun fact: the breeds determine the color of the eggshells.
+
Pasture raised - getting a diverse diet of bugs, grubs, seeds, forages, and whatever else they find on pastures. Rotated daily to new pasture. Supplemented with Non GMO grains.
+
Don’t be fooled by the color of eggs. Many brands that claim to be pasture-raised supplement with additives that give the yolk a bright orange color. Our egg yolk colors change and vary depending on each hen’s food for that day or the time seasons and what’s growing in our pastures.
+
We offer both washed and unwashed eggs. We are required to bring washed eggs to farmer's markets we attend but have both options at our farm store.
+
Animals are never fed animal-by products: Our pigs and chickens are never supplemented with animal by products. They only eat a natural diet of GMO-free grains and our regenerative pastures.
